Scoreloop FAQ

First Steps

What is Scoreloop?

Scoreloop is a social gaming platform for mobile devices. It allows gamers to challenge other players, view global high score lists, organize buddy lists, and keep track of their achievements. It can be added to any game, enabling social features.

How do I create an account?

To create a Scoreloop account, you must enter our mobile user interface through one of the Scoreloop enabled games. Then simply choose a username, password, and enter your email address. You will immediately receive a confirmation email.

How can I change my username?

Players are free to choose any username they'd like, but in order to build a Scoreloop identity we ask you stick with what you've chosen. For this reason we do not currently support username changes.

What if I want to change my email address/password?

Your email address and password can be changed on your profile page on this site.

How do I switch accounts?

Each iPhone/iPod is assigned a unique Scoreloop ID and therefore only supports one account. If you believe there are extenuating circumstances (Changes in ownership of the device), we would be happy to assist you with resetting your device to support a new Scoreloop account. To do so, please contact us at support@scoreloop.com.

What is facebook connect?

Facebook integration adds your facebook friends to your Scoreloop Buddy List and initiates a link between the two networks. This way you can challenge facebook friends, see wall posts, and keep track of both accounts. If you'd like, Scoreloop will send updates from your mobile device to your facebook wall. You can manage the information that Scoreloop sends to your facebook account on our community site at http://www.scoreloop.com or deactivate this feature at any point.

Buddies

How do I add Buddies?

There are three ways to add buddies to your Buddy list. Players can be directly added from the high score list, after clicking on their profile. You may also invite players from your iPhone address book or using their email address. And lastly, you can add friends from facebook using facebook connect.

How do I remove a Buddy?

Removing a buddy is as simple as selecting them in your Buddy List and clicking the 'Remove' button.

I have friends in my Buddy List that I didn't invite, why?

Buddies that appear in your Buddy List that you didn't directly invite are your friends from facebook. You should see the facebook logo next to their name.

Challenges

How do I challenge someone?

There are three ways to challenge someone. 'Challenge Anybody' opens a challenge that anyone who has a similar record as yours can see. 'Invite Friend' sends an invite to a friend to play this game and registers your challenge. And lastly, the 'Challenge Buddy' button brings you to your Buddy List and lets you select one of them to challenge.

Can I challenge someone who does not have the game I am playing?

Yes! Simply send the challenge and they will receive an invitation email with a link to the game in the App Store. Upon accepting the invitation they will be asked to play the challenge. If they decide not to accept the invitation, the challenge will expire and you Coins will be returned for that challenge.

I just challenged someone and nothing happened, what's wrong?

Scoreloop uses asynchronous challenge technology, which means you don't have to play at the same time. We keep the record of your instance of the game on our servers and wait for your friend to accept the challenge. Initially the only change you'll see is your Coins reduce by the number your put on the challenge. These Coins will be returned if the challenge is not accepted. Otherwise, you'll be notified when your friend has accepted the challenge!

Why can't I challenge my friend?

If you have verified your email address with Scoreloop and still cannot initiate a challenge, this means that the player you are trying to challenge has yet to verify theirs. Send them a friendly reminder to verify their email address so that the fun can begin!

Why can't I challenge anybody?

If you're unable to start challenges, it is because you have yet to verify your email address. Please go to your Account tab in the Scoreloop interface and specify your email address. Participating in challenges is still up to you. You don't have to, but it's a lot more fun!

How do I know when someone has accepted my challenge?

You'll receive an email indicating the outcome of the challenge, along with the points each of you scored. If you have the Scoreloop App, you will also receive a Push Notification.

Why are some challenges highlighted in red, and others grey?

Challenges that are highlighted in red are direct challenges, which means you're the only one that can see them. Grey challenges are ones that have been initiated using the 'Challenge Anybody' button, and can be seen by others as well.

Coins

What are Coins?

Coins are used to initiate challenges. They can be either won or lost, depending on the outcome of the challenge.

Do challenges expire if they're not accepted?

Yes, challenges expire if they are not accepted within 48hrs. In this case, the Coins are returned to the challenger.

How do I earn Coins?

Coins can be earned through winning challenges, inviting friends to Scoreloop, and placing on the high score list. Additional Coins can be purchased from Scoreloop.

What if I run out of Coins?

If you run out of Coins you must earn them by inviting friends, submitting high scores, or purchasing additional ones from Scoreloop.

Medals

What are Medals?

Medals are awarded based on Scoreloop points. Successfully completing challenges increases your points and medal status.

Why do I only have a Medal in one skill?

Each Scoreloop enabled game has been identified as relying primarily on one of three skills (agility, knowledge, or strategy). Playing a particular game will only affect your record in that skill.

How many different medal upgrades are there?

There are four different medal ranks awarded for each of the three skills. These are copper, bronze, silver, and gold.

Smart Highscore Lists

What are 'smart' high score lists?

Smart high score lists are filtered versions of the global high score list for a specific game. Location, age, and gender parameters are currently supported.

How do I create a 'smart' high score list?

Players can create a high score list by going to the High Scores tab, then tapping the browse lists view, and then tapping the '+' next to the list name. Here add any criteria you'd like the list to follow, and then click 'Done'.

How can I delete a 'smart' high score list?

Players can delete a high score list by clicking on the red button to the side of the list name, and clicking the 'Delete' button that appears.

My Account

Why is my record entirely different from last time I checked?

Each Scoreloop enabled game shows your record for that game only. If your record is different from the last time you checked, you are most likely playing a different game than before.

How do I delete my Scoreloop account?

Deleting your Scoreloop account cannot be reversed, and should only be done in the case of device ownership change. No other account will be allowed to play on this particular device, unless Scoreloop is contacted. To delete your account, go to our community site: http://www.scoreloop.com.

How do I find games that use Scoreloop?

The best way to browse through Scoreloop enabled games is by using the Scoreloop App.

Why isn't my favorite game Scoreloop enabled?

Good question! Send the game developer an email requesting that Scoreloop be enabled!
